Overview
The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine proudly presents the Pathology On The Beach Conference hosted by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This is the 50th in a series of courses which seeks to improve the diagnostic skills of practicing pathologists, pathologists in training, and other healthcare professionals by focusing on the latest information, diagnostic criteria and techniques relevant to daily practice.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. • Review current guidelines and diagnostic criteria to direct appropriate interventions for genitourinary cancer patients
  2. • Describe the current and emerging applications of artificial intelligence in pathology practice.
  3. • Recognize diagnostic features and differential diagnosis in the evaluation of various hematologic disease lesions.
  4. • Identify current WHO classification principles with immunocytochemical and molecular findings to enhance diagnostic accuracy in pancreatic cytopathology.
  5. • Discuss immunohistochemical techniques to cytologic specimens for both diagnostic clarification and predictive biomarker assessment in patient care.
  6. • Review challenging cytology cases through interactive, case-based discussion to strengthen diagnostic reasoning and clinical correlation skills.
  7. • Recognize diagnostic features and differential diagnosis in the evaluation of various cytopathology neoplasms
  8. • Recognize key histopathologic features and recent diagnostic updates in placental, perinatal, and pediatric pathology
  9. • Recognize diagnostic features and differential diagnosis in the evaluation of gynecological lesions.
  10. • Recognize common diagnostic pitfalls in bone tumor frozen section evaluation to avoid errors in clinical practice.
  11. • Explain the key indications for frozen section in Head & Neck pathology
  12. • Identify histologic features of neuropathologic specimens on frozen section slides.
  13. • Recognize diagnostic features and differential diagnosis in the evaluation of breast neoplasms.
  14. • Compare the techniques in detecting lobular cancer
  15. • Recognize key histologic patterns and mimics characteristic of Salivary Gland-like Breast Tumors
  16. • Identify diagnostic features of post-neoadjuvant breast cancer specimens to optimize clinical management
  17. • Discuss effective communication and collaboration strategies between pathologists other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  18. • Recognize uncommon variants of colorectal carcinoma to improve diagnostic accuracy and guide appropriate clinical management
  19. • Identify best practices to treat inflammatory bowel disease, and IBD – related dysplasia
  20. • Discuss the differential diagnosis of celiac disease • Recognize various pathologic and clinical features of various Gastrointestinal entities • Describe histopathologic features of Barrett’s esophagus and related dysplasia to improve diagnostic accuracy and guide patient management
