Overview
The XXVII Davidson-Mestman Intensive Course on Diabetes, Endocrinology and Cardiometabolic Diseases is the premier Endocrinology Congress reaching endocrinology specialists throughout Latin America, Spain and the USA.The course, commonly referred to as “Curso Intensivo,” will comprehensively address the daily challenges faced by physicians in clinical practice who treat patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and endocrine disorders. The four-day “Curso Intensivo” lectures will be conducted in both English and Spanish and are designed for endocrinologists, internists, family doctors, and allied health care professionals

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply principles of deiodinase biology and TSH physiology to individualize treatment decisions in patients with hypothyroidism.
  2. Identify patients who should be evaluated for primary aldosteronism and select an evidence-based diagnostic and treatment approach.
  3. Differentiate clinical and ultrasound features of thyroid nodules that warrant biopsy, surveillance, molecular evaluation, or referral.
  4. Recognize the clinical and biochemical features of paraneoplastic Cushing syndrome and formulate an appropriate diagnostic and initial management plan.
  5. Recognize the manifestations of SDH-deficient disease and incorporate appropriate genetic evaluation, surveillance, and management strategies into practice.
  6. Formulate an appropriate diagnostic and treatment plan for patients with suspected adrenal insufficiency, including stress-dose management when indicated.
  7. Select appropriate diabetes technologies based on patient characteristics and use device-generated data to improve glycemic management.
  8. Avoid common diagnostic and therapeutic pitfalls in adrenal insufficiency and optimize acute and long-term management.
  9. Apply current recommendations for blood pressure targets and antihypertensive therapy in patients with diabetes to reduce cardiovascular and renal risk.
  10. Assess the clinical significance of lean mass loss during weight reduction and incorporate strategies to preserve muscle while treating obesity.
  11. Compare current and emerging therapeutic approaches for MASH and apply a comprehensive management strategy for patients at risk of progressive liver disease.
  12. Apply relevant updates from the AHA guidelines to improve cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with endocrine and metabolic disease.
  13. Explain the role of adipose fibrosis in cardiorenal metabolic disease and evaluate emerging therapeutic implications for metabolic health.
  14. Compare the mechanisms, clinical potential, and safety considerations of emerging incretin combination therapies for obesity and metabolic disease
  15. Evaluate dietary strategies for metabolically unhealthy obesity and tailor nutrition recommendations to patients’ cardiometabolic risk profiles.
