Overview

The Davidson-Mestman Intensive Course on Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Cardiometabolic Diseases is a premier endocrinology congress that brings together specialists from across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. Commonly known as the “Curso Intensivo,” this two-day program provides a comprehensive review of the challenges physicians encounter in everyday clinical practice when caring for patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and endocrine disorders. All lectures will be delivered in English and are designed for endocrinologists, internists, family physicians, and allied health care professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and strengthen their clinical practice in endocrinology, diabetes, and cardiometabolic medicine.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply principles of deiodinase biology and TSH physiology to individualize treatment decisions in patients with hypothyroidism.
  2. Identify patients who should be evaluated for primary aldosteronism and select an evidence-based diagnostic and treatment approach.
  3. Differentiate clinical and ultrasound features of thyroid nodules that warrant biopsy, surveillance, molecular evaluation, or referral.
  4. Recognize the clinical and biochemical features of paraneoplastic Cushing syndrome and formulate an appropriate diagnostic and initial management plan.
  5. Recognize the manifestations of SDH-deficient disease and incorporate appropriate genetic evaluation, surveillance, and management strategies into practice.
  6. Apply current recommendations for blood pressure targets and antihypertensive therapy in patients with diabetes to reduce cardiovascular and renal risk.
  7. Select evidence-based lifestyle and pharmacologic treatment strategies for obesity based on patient-specific clinical factors and comorbidities.
  8. Compare the mechanisms, clinical potential, and safety considerations of emerging incretin combination therapies for obesity and metabolic disease.
  9. Evaluate dietary strategies for metabolically unhealthy obesity and tailor nutrition recommendations to patients’ cardiometabolic risk profiles.
